SAF-T Hungary and 2020 update

Starting 1 July 2018, taxpayers are obliged to provide real-time invoice data for domestic transactions with a minimum VAT amount of 100,000 Hungarian forint (322 EUR). SAP had to be able to detect sales invoices that exceed this threshold. The invoice information has to be transmitted immediately from the billing program to the National Tax and Customs portal without human intervention within a five minutes timeframe after the invoice was generated.

Taxpayers who do not send the data immediately are subject to tax penalties.

The Hungarian tax authorities announced a new legal update that became in force on 1 July 2020.

Starting 1 July 2020, vendors should use and submit version 2.0 of the XML of the electronic invoices to the Hungarian online report. The new version 2.0 includes changes to invoice details and submission requirements. To be added are invoice issuance and numbering, credit and debit note numbering formats, a delivery date of goods, and a calculation of VAT liabilities and VAT rates.

Besides that, it will contain a new way of submissions, such as an updated API and an API encryption signature and changes to the invoicing software. In the previous version vendor reports its sales invoices to NAV, and only this vendor gets access to information. The new legal change allows customers to check the published vendor information via a web portal. Hungary has also withdrawn the threshold starting 1 July 2020.

What is an SAP add-on?

An SAP add-on enhances standard SAP itself.

Add-on components are extra functionalities that do not come with the main SAP product. Different organizations have different requirements. SAP has recognized that and facilitated that additional functionality can be added and that such functionality as a component can be integrated with standard SAP.

An add-on is permitted by SAP – the code 'ABAP' is written and transported where SAP allows it. That means these add-on components sit above the core and access the same dictionary objects or repository objects and perform the required functionality. It contains custom authorization objects according to SAP standards.

SAP add-on solutions are, therefore, without an external interface or external software and can be implemented with minor or no SAP impact in any other area. An SAP add-on does not change the programming code of SAP. As a result, SAP upgrades do not lead to any problems, and maintenance is straightforward.

Additional functionality is added to standard SAP:
